I am blogging today about things out of an author’s control. It’s been jarring to get emails and blog posts that are sometimes mean. I’m selfish and a liar. Ouch! I know a lot of people are angry about Beneath the Secrets being moved to a new date but be it self publishing or traditional publishing there are dates that move, and things that happen that force that to happen. Yes, I made this decision to change the date but I had to, because I simply wasn’t willing to rush Blake’s story and not make it all it deserves to be. We as authors are self employed and like you, we have to make decisions to best support our families but also to hopefully bring readers the best stories in the most formats. I made a decision to change the date of Beneath the Secret when I signed with a traditional publisher for a series not just for me and my families well being but for my readers satisfaction as well. By establishing myself in this way, you will have more options for all my future works in more formats — audio, print, and so on. I will also have the chance to visit locations and see readers I otherwise simply could not.Yes, it stinks to have to change things around, but in the end this will turn out better for everyone.
I look forward to bringing the fans Beneath the Secrets and Blake’s story, which is one I have hungered to write for some time. I promise I am not sitting on my hands and not writing the story. I was accused of being on twitter too much by one reader. I tweet when I hit a brain dead moment or on my phone at the gym. I don’t tweet to avoid writing stories. In fact, I write seven days a week, and enjoy it. It’s a blessing to do something I love for a living and I am honored to have people read what I write.
Blake’s story is coming! And so is a followup trilogy and regardless of some of the anger, I appreciate that people feel that passionate about the series. Thank you for wanting his story.
